Persol pays tribute to the exclusive and iconic collection of their acetate collection: Madreterra. It's the 4th edition and the new shade is an emphasis on strong pezrsonality, and features the very elegant timeless design of their most famous icon, the 649.
Since 2013 the Vintage Celebration project has explored Persol’s immense historical heritage and every year it has been the inspiration behind the creation of new colors and textures for frames with the brand’s unique, timeless allure, a symbol of Italian excellence, craftsmanship, enriching the offer of acetates for its iconic models.
In this new edition, Vintage Celebration adds a new, exclusive color to the Havana acetate nuances proposed in past years. Its name, Madreterra (Mother Earth), conjures up the natural elements of the Earth and their combination for a unique creation.
Rediscovered in the Persol archives and finally brought back to light, Madreterra is a bright and tortoiseshell Havana that is reminiscent of the Earth’s proud, incandescent heart made of full and deep colors, warm tones and strong contrasts.
Madreterra joins a Persol icon: the 649. Created in 1957 for Turin tram-drivers, Persol 649 sunglasses became part of Italian design history, the protagonist of an everlasting success and loved by personalities in the worlds of culture and cinema.
The exclusive color is available for the original 649 style and for two evolutions: optical model PO9649V and sun model PO9649S. The two sunglasses are offered with lenses in three different hues: soft light brown, polarized light blue and green.
Vintage Celebration is made up of nine color harmonies. Madreterra enriches the palette of five “original Havana” colors inspired by natural elements of the Earth: Tabacco Virginia, Miele, Terra di Siena, Caffè and Madreterra The second color palette, “Contemporary Juxtapositions”, combines classic Havana textures in deep, contemporary colors to create four uniquely combinations with and unexpected touch: Terra e Oceano, Resina e Sale, Ebano e Oro, Fuoco e Ardesia.
