Our hearts were broken when we heard the buzz that Liam Payne and Sophia Smith broke up. We could only imagine how the split made Liam feel, but now he's shed a little more light on just what happened to cause the breakup.Liam recently told The Sun on Sunday (via Press Party) that it was the distance that got between them, explaining, "I'm absolutely devastated to have split with Sophia. Being on the tour all this year and being away from her was so hard. We spent so much time apart."
He continued, "But in order to do right by somebody sometimes it's better not to do what your heart wants, but to do what's better for them."
Aw. Srsly heartbreaking.
What's next for Liam? Sounds like a bit of single life soul searching, as he explained: "Right now I'm looking forward to some alone time to figure out who I am and what I want to be."
