Hot on the heels of her recent Kiss Me Once, featuring flawless pop gems such as "Into the Blue", "Sexercize" and "Fine", Australian goddess Kylie Minogue is still churning out proper dance tunes for the betterment of all mankind. While the semi-decent "I Was Gonna Cancel" was ultimately chosen as her new album's latest single, it seems maybe the recently premiered "Crystallize" should have taken its spot.
Released as part of Aprec's One Note to Cancer charity, "Crystallize" is an uplifting pop track with an aspiring message while still sounding like a strong and proper Minogue creation. With a vibe similar to the songs found of her Aphrodite release, really getting an "All The Lovers" feel, the new charity song comes off as a radio-ready effort with the artist's trademark vocals soaring for all the right reasons. This is not something thrown together at the last minute.
Though the song may appear to be short, it is definitely sweet. "When you don't know if you should go or stay, you only have to turn my way," Minogue sings on the slightly addictive, smile-inducing chorus. It builds on the inspiring, optimistic nature of the finished track as the production gloriously surrounds the artist without overshadowing her enduring performance.
For the accompanying six and a half minute video, half of which are end credits dedicated to the thousands of charity donors who bid on every note of the song, an aspiring young artist fantasizes about becoming a star while occasionally being interrupted by her mother. The music video is incredibly adorable, it's heart warming and bares some similarities to the recently released "Chandelier" video from Sia. "Crystallize" is the kind of release we've come to love from Kylie. It's a solid effort.
