I have been making a feature of Irish design this week and I decided to have a look at Una's work again as it had been a while. I am really glad I did as she's making some even more beautiful work now.
I am amazed at the range of products that she makes from bracelets to belts to corsets to jewellery. The entire line is available on her website for purchase. It's very impressive. I was also impressed by the role call of fans from Lady Gaga, Rihanna (who wore a pink shoulder piece) to a neck piece appearing in the Hunger Games.
The pieces are all entirely made by hand in her atelier in the UK with solid brass fittings from Italy. They are constructed using traditional leather working techniques. I must admit, leather is an area that I am not used to working with and have very little idea of how it is worked. I do admire those who can work with it as a fabric because it certainly doesn't look easy!
